Dear Christian,
YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT. So, WHAT DO YOU EAT?
People who pray for power but neglect the Bible abound in the church. But the power that belongs to God is stored up in the great reservoir of His Word. “Heaven and Earth shall pass away but my words will never pass away.” (Mark 13:31)
The 66 love letters from Genesis to Revelation were written so us Christians could get to know God through them. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge we need for life is hidden in the Word. We were once zombies but we are now alive in Christ. God transforms us into a new person by changing the way we think through His perfect Word. Knowledge of the Word doesn’t only transform our thinking, but it also trains us on how to walk in our new identity in Christ.
You can be a believer of Christ and attend church every Sunday and or even more days during the week but if you don’t read the Word you’ll remain naked and powerless for power and spiritual clothing is found in the Word alone. “For the Word of God is alive and powerful. It’s SHARPER than a DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” (Hebrews 4:12)
Jesus is the Word who became flesh. (John 1:14) Jesus said “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35) When Jesus referred Himself as to being the bread of life and the living water in the bible; He was clearly speaking not in relation to the flesh but in relation to the spirit part of us. We eat food because our flesh needs it to continue functioning and grow in strength daily. As our flesh needs food our spirit man needs the Bread of life/Word of God to stay alive and function well.
We are quick to tell when our flesh is hungry and even quicker to feed it but we are often negligent when it comes to our spirit man; as a result, it’s left starving. When it’s starved it definitely loses its battle against the flesh (Galatians 5:17) and if you continue not to feed it, it will unfortunately fail to make it to the finish line of its race. (1 Corinthians 9:25) THE ONE YOU FEED ALWAYS WINS. If you love God the most, feed the most the part of you that will spend eternity with Him.
Believers are soldiers of Christ. After we accept Christ as our personal saviour and we surrender our lives to Him; we receive training to prepare for the spiritual war awaiting for us. The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17) How shall one go to a battlefield without their sword? Soldiers know if they enter a war without being WELL EQUIPPED they are most definitely going to be wounded or die. “For we are NOT fighting against Flesh-and-blood enemies, but against EVIL RULERS and authorities of the UNSEEN WORLD, against MIGHTY POWERS in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12) To repel the attacks of our spiritual enemies we must hold tight onto the mighty weapon of God and use it appropriately.
You want to become like your master Christ? The key to becoming like Christ is eating the Bread of life. You can’t become like Him without the Word. “Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.” (Luke 6:40) There is no training without the Word; which is your sword. If a soldier trains without his sword, he wouldn’t know how to use it appropriately later on in the battlefield as a result he will lose the battle.
To have the ability to DISCERN whether what we hear and read is of God or not we must read. (Philippians 1:10-11)
You don’t like reading? Pray the Lord may help you start enjoying reading and believe me if it’s your honest desire you shall ask and receive in Jesus name. “And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him.” (1 John 5:14) You must pray with PERSISTENCE to receive what you are asking for. (Luke 18)
“My people are DESTROYED for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being PRIEST to me.” (Hosea 4:6) This tells me one perishes simply because of a lack of reading the Word of God. The Lord has made it clear in the scripture above He rejects those who reject knowledge. In (1 Peter 2:9) God calls us “A chosen people, royal priests, and a holy nation” and He REJECTS us from being His royal priests if we don’t read and understand His Word. This is too deep!
The more we know the better God expects us to live. They say “When you know better, you do better.” Indeed! May we not just be readers but also doers of the Word. Amen!
GOD LOVES YOU ALWAYS & FOREVER!

December 15, 2014This is beautiful. Truly its a wake up call to all Christians to stick to the Word and live accordingly. (James 1:22)
Faith comes through hearing and hearing to the word of God. Its when we get more of God’s Word that our faith increases.
