Throughout generations, one of the core factors to the rising chaos in our world has been identity crisis. The world is a collection of societies. Societies are made up of individuals/families. Identity crisis occurs when individuals pursue to fit in the mould of the world to satisfy their lack of sense of belonging within these societies. According to social psychologists, the need to belong all boils down to survival. Those suffering from this crisis desperately seek a clearer sense of self and an acceptable role in society. Now, for those of us who are in Christ, we know we have found our everlasting belonging in God. As a result, we can IDENTIFY ourselves with the things of God instead of this lost world.
Christ has clarified His call upon His children is to live as people who are IN but not OF the world.(John 17:16)
As members of the church of God, are we being intentional about living out our identity in Christ with boldness? Or just like the people of the world, we too are striving to fit in the world for acceptance? Our lifestyle is a manifestation of whatever we have identified ourselves with. Living out our identity in God begins with KNOWING and EMBRACING Him in His fullness without a doubt. Why? Because…
By knowing God, we receive the revelation of our positioning in Him.
What is our positioning in God?
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17
The Greek translation of the word ‘NEW’ in the scripture above is ‘Kainos’. Kainos is a term that describes newness as to form and quality meaning of different nature from what is contrasted as old. This tells me, in Christ, we are UNLIKE ANYTHING IN EXISTENCE, we are brand new people. We are people who are born of the perfect will of God. (John 1:13) As vessels who are branded with the Holy Spirit, ROYALTY is our positioning in God. (2 Corinthians 1:22) The cross of Christ purchased our Crown. And the indwelling of the Spirit of God has made us kings and queens on earth. What a privilege is it to be carriers of the presence of God. What a wonderful truth to rest in!
On a personal note, the theme of identity and royalty became the passion of my heart the day God revealed to me Christ is my CROWN. Oh my gosh! I didn’t know what to do with myself with excitement. Because now, I could boldly proclaim my position as a queen in Christ without the approval of dust. I no longer had to wait for a man to crown me queen.
I have learned that royalty is my inheritance through the blood of Jesus that is flowing in my veins.
Can any man drain His blood out of me? Hell no. Therefore, whatever man says can NEVER change who I am in Christ neither can they chain me to my past. This realization of the precious gift of my reborn identity transformed my life for eternity. My prayer is that this truth may change your life forever as it has mine. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies is our glorious Crown. He is our pride and joy! He is our portion forever. Is your life a reflection of this fact? If not, you still have a chance to repent and make a U-turn.
Understanding our identity sets us free from every kind of captivity.
We begin to experience the freedom found in the truth of God. We put the enemy to shame through our display of the reality of our redemption. We automatically stand as representatives of the Kingdom of God. We finish the work Jesus started on earth.
In conclusion, Christ hasn’t only called us to walk as His own, He has graced us to do it. Therefore, we must make an unapologetic stand on who we are in God. Our Crown is bloodstained and it’s a price on our head. The cheque to our election was bought with the blood of an eternal king. May we not live as though His sacrifice was in vain. May we live with convictions concerning the cost of our refusal to walk in the fullness of our identity in Christ.
God Loves You, Always & Forever!
